The Philippine Coast Guard reported that two Chinese vessels collided while pursuing a Philippine patrol ship in the South China Sea.
According to the Philippine Coast Guard, the Chinese vessels engaged in aggressive behaviour, including dangerous blocking manoeuvres, as they chased Philippine Coast Guard and fishing vessels near Scarborough Shoal.
Both the Philippines and China lay claim to Scarborough Shoal and other areas in the South China Sea, a region marked by ongoing territorial disputes.
