On October 21, KUOW published a story with the headline: “Katie Wilson can barely afford to live in Seattle. That’s why she wants to be mayor.” The story then goes on to reveal that while she “speaks the language of the working people,” there’s something missing from her campaign narrative: “Her parents give her money,” the reporter wrote. Harrell’s campaign seized on the idea that support from her parents undermines Wilson’s credentials as an advocate for working-class Seattleites. Two days after the KUOW article came out, Harrell sent out a press release with the headline: “Katie Wilson is Not Who…
Dozens of Democratic attorneys general and governors are planning to sue President Donald Trump’s administration Tuesday over its decision to not tap emergency funds amid the government shutdown to keep food aid flowing to 42 million Americans next month, according to three people granted anonymity to discuss the matter ahead of a public announcement. Trump officials concluded in a Friday memo that they cannot legally tap a $5 billion contingency fund for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program amid the shutdown to pay benefits in November. Some in the administration believe, with $9 billion needed to fund SNAP payments for the…
Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler discusses the impact of the government shutdown on small business on ‘Kudlow.’ Small Business Administration Administrator Kelly Loeffler says Democrats are having a “disgraceful moment” as the government shutdown reaches what she calls liberals’ intended effect of hurting small businesses. The federal government approached its fifth week of a shutdown after lawmakers failed to advance the continuing resolution a dozen times, according to a previous report. Disagreements over Obamacare remain at the forefront, as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and other Democrats push to extend expiring Affordable Care Act premium subsidies, while Republicans say…
Robots can be programmed to do a variety of tasks, like packing boxes and even performing surgery. But each individual movement or task requires its own specific training process, which makes it hard for robots to adapt in real-world scenarios. The company will be showcasing this tech as one of the Top 20 Startup Battlefield finalists at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025. New York-based Mbodi built a cloud-to-edge system, a hybrid computing system using both cloud and local compute, that is designed to integrate into existing robotic…
(WSB photo, August 14) More than two months after the noontime smash-and-grab takeover robbery at Menashe & Sons Jewelers in The Junction, a suspect is charged. The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced the first-degree robbery and unlawful-gun-possession charges filed against 29-year-old DaSean S. Harrison, who the documents say has prior weapons and robbery-attempt convictions. The charging documents say they traced him through witnesses, car rental records, an investigation of pawn-shop robberies (for which he’s also charged) in Renton and Shoreline, and even SODO Home Depot camera images showing shoplifting of items similar to what was used in the robbery,…
Check out what’s clicking on FoxBusiness.com. The card collecting craze got even bigger last week when Topps, a worldwide leader in trading cards, returned to the NBA with a new launch for the first time since the 2009-10 season. And one of the star players featured on the cards has already pulled a rare find. New York Knicks star center Karl-Anthony Towns, alongside teammates Josh Hart and OG Anunoby, were on hand at the NBA Store in Manhattan last Thursday for the Topps Basketball launch when he started to open packs up with Fanatics founder Michael Rubin, late-night host Seth Meyers…
Kevin Damoa came face-to-face with the challenges and dangers of moving freight from road to rail as a 17-year-old U.S. Army enlistee tasked with loading tanks and Bradley fighting vehicles onto the railroad. It was — as the mechanical engineer and founder of Glīd Technologies puts it — the beginning of his love story with logistics. It’s a love story that persisted through a 13-year stint with the U.S. Air Force National Guard as a firefighter to his roles in the private sector at SpaceX, Northrup Grumman, Romeo Power Tech, and Xos Trucks — to name a few. But it…
