Amazon could be implementing the largest job reduction at the company since 2023. As reported by Reuters on Monday, people familiar with the matter said that up to 30,000 corporate positions may be eliminated starting Tuesday. The job cuts are expected to affect various sectors, including human resources, devices and services, and operations, and others. Amazon hasn’t eliminated this many jobs since 27,000 were cut beginning in late 2022. In recent years, Amazon has made smaller job cuts across different divisions. In January, Amazon reduced a small number of positions in its Communications and Sustainability departments. This also follows a…
(Photo from last week by Tom Trulin) Emergency repairs continue on the culvert that takes Fauntleroy Creek beneath the short stretch of California SW between the schoolhouse and church, and today they’re digging in the street, so a flagger is helping traffic get through; if you have to travel through there, allot extra time. When last we checked in with Seattle Public Utilities, spokesperson Brad Wong told us work was not expected to conclude before November 7; the no-parking signage in the area has just been updated to potentially run through November 15. This is separate from the culvert-replacement projects…
Politics / October 27, 2025 Vote for Zohran, not the moron. Ad Policy Andrew Cuomo greets Zohran Mamdani before a mayoral debate at Rockefeller Center, on October 16, 2025 in New York City. (Angelina Katsanis / Pool/ Getty Images) Andrew Cuomo started his political life exploiting bigotry. He is now ending it the same sordid way. In 1977, Cuomo’s father, Mario, was running for mayor of New York against Ed Koch, who was widely and correctly rumored to be a closeted gay man. Andrew Cuomo was reportedly the mastermind behind nasty anonymous posters plastered throughout the city that urged the…
FOX Business correspondent Grady Trimble reports on the heated conversations in Congress over Obamacare subsidies and the growing impact of the government shutdown on ‘Varney & Co.’ Republicans and Democrats remain far apart on what to do about Obamacare, with how to handle expiring subsidies being the main sticking point in talks to re-open the federal government. Back when former President Barack Obama signed the legislation into law in 2010, he promised it would “lower costs for families and for businesses and for the federal government, reducing our deficit by over $1T in the next two decades.” DEMOCRATS BLAME GOP FOR…
When Demetri Maxim was seven years old, his mother’s kidneys stopped working. She was put on dialysis, which meant that she had to go to the hospital four times a week to have her blood filtered by a machine since her own kidneys could no longer function independently. Two years later, Maxim’s mother received a kidney transplant. Although the surgery was successful and allowed her to lead a relatively normal life, it wasn’t the end of his family’s struggle with kidney disease. It turned out that Maxim had inherited the disease, Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), from her. About one in…

Centrist Democrats have a plan for their party to win again: Talk more about the economy and less about democracy. Reject corporate interests and ideological purity tests. Keep the progressive policies that are popular — like expanding health care and raising the minimum wage — and moderate on issues like immigration and crime. Those are among the takeaways laid out in an expansive report Monday from WelcomePAC, which supports center-left candidates, on how Democrats can rebound from last year’s electoral wipeout in 2026 and 2028. The 58-page prescription comes as Democrats continue to war over the direction of their party…
Niles Investment Management founder and portfolio Dan Niles discusses Tesla’s potential $1 trillion compensation plan for Elon Musk on ‘The Claman Countdown.’ Tesla’s board chair has warned shareholders in a letter that failing to approve Elon Musk’s $1 trillion pay package could put the company at risk of losing its CEO and “significant value.” “Do you want to retain Elon as Tesla’s CEO and motivate him to drive Tesla to become the leading provider of autonomous solutions and the most valuable company in the world?” board Chair Robyn Denholm said in a letter to shareholders, calling the vote slated to…
Apple says it will soon introduce an Apple Wallet feature that will allow U.S. users to create a digital ID using their passport, which will then be able to be used at select TSA checkpoints for domestic travel. The feature, previously announced as part of the iOS 26 release, comes on the heels of Apple’s expansion of Wallet as more than a payment mechanism or ticket holder, but also a secure place to store a user’s digital identity. Currently, support for government IDs in Apple Wallet has rolled out to 12 states and Puerto Rico, or roughly a third of…
Good morning! We have a break from all the weather today. Expect some sun. Temps in the 50s. Not a drop of rain. The works. Speaking of Weather: I hope your power is on. After we got walloped by a rain and windstorm on Saturday night, trees came down and took powerlines with them. At its peak, more than 310,000 households lost power, and as of Sunday evening, more than 100,000 of them were still in the dark. Most of the Puget Sound region is back up and running this morning, but if you’re one of the unlucky ones, today should…
