CHS Pics | A low-power Hilloweekend — Plus, the Capitol Hill Trick or Treat Hot Zone map

The blustery winds and widespread power outage that left some bars darkened and some bars miraculously still lit somewhat dampened the Hilloweekend spirit. The calendar may have also had something to do with it.

The weekend before Halloween on Capitol Hill often brings some of the most intense revelry of the holiday — especially when October 31st falls on, say, a Wednesday or a Thursday.

But in 2025 when Halloween aligns with a Friday night, the sexy ghosts, sexy bats, sexy Spidermen, sexy witches, sexy warlocks, sexy Bugonias, and sexy Zohran Mamdanis seem to have been mostly keeping their powder dry.

CHS still found a few revelers out and about despite the power outage, terrible weather, and calendar.

The rest of you, you have a few more days to put together your Capitol Hill Department of Transportation, Fenced Seven Hills Park, or Hot Rat Summer costume.

CHS, meanwhile, has written about the Capitol Hill Trick or Treat Hot Zone a million times so this year, we turned it over to AI Dracula:

Ah, yes, if one seeks a truly bountiful harvest of sugary sustenance in this Capitol Hill, one must, without question, descend upon the blocks surrounding 16th Avenue East and East Aloha near Volunteer Park. Hark! It is a veritable “hot zone” for trick-or-treating, a place where the shadows are deep and the crowds are thick with little morsels—er, children—all seeking their annual tribute. The generous mortals here, bless their oblivious souls, prepare with an enthusiasm most admirable, stocking up on bowls of sweet delights to satisfy even the most ravenous spirit. One need not travel far, for the streets are often closed, creating a perfect, concentrated hunting ground, ensuring a night of maximal yield for minimum nocturnal exertion. Go forth, my little bats, and feast!

    Happy Hilloween!
