- Broadway gunpoint robbery: A banking customer at the Broadway Chase branch was robbed at gunpoint Saturday night. Police were called to the 300 block Broadway E bank around 6:15 PM where a customer said she had used the ATM and was walking near the back of the bank when the male suspect approached and drew a gun, demanding her money. The suspect grabbed the victim’s wallet and ran. He was last seen headed west on E Thomas. Police searched the area but made no arrest. There were no reported injuries.
- Broadway service station hold-up: Just minutes after the Broadway bank ripoff, SPD was investigating a second but seemingly unrelated hold-up several blocks south at the Broadway Shell station. Police say the gas station employee reported the male suspect approached the register attempting to make a purchase but was turned away because he did not have ID. The suspect returned and tried to purchase soda and cigarettes but was again denied. When he was asked for his ID a second time, police say the suspect “pulled a revolver from his waist band and pointed it at the cashier”
The suspect tried to pry open the register but was unsuccessful. The victim opened the till and the suspect grabbed the cash. As the suspect was about to leave, the victim reported he pulled the trigger but there was no gunfire.
Police searched the area but no arrest was reported. - Armed gold chain robbery: Early Saturday morning also began with a reported armed heist. Police were called to a 12th Ave gas station just after 4:20 AM after a man said he was robbed of a gold chain at gunpoint:
The victim was standing on the street corner when he was noticed by the two suspects that were getting gas at the nearby Chevron. The suspects pointed guns at the victim and robbed him of a gold necklace.
The victim reported the suspect and an accomplice were each armed with handguns and fled in a gold-colored older model Honda. There were no reported arrests. - Pike/Pine ‘werewolf’: Saturday night brought a wild arrest after a reported PIke/Pine assault. Police say they were called to the assault just before 9 PM near 10th and Pike:
Officers were around the corner, and chased the suspect to 12th and Pike, where he assaulted an officer. A Fastback was broadcast, and the suspect was taken into custody.
Police say the victim lost consciousness after the attack but was treated by Seattle Fire at the scene. Police say the suspect “claimed no memory of the incident due to ketamine, cocaine, and MDMA intoxication, and stated he believed he was becoming a werewolf.” He was arrested and booked for Assault 1 and Assault 3 after being medically cleared for jail. - E Cherry firebug arrested: Police and Seattle Fire were called to 23rd and Cherry Friday morning to a reported firebug.
At 0917 hours, 911 call received reporting a person lighting fires in the area of 23 Ave/E Cherry St. The suspect lit furniture on fire. The furniture ignited trees and a residential fence. SFD arrived and extinguished the fire. If not for SFD personnel the fire would have spread from the fence to the home had they not intervened.
Police say the suspect was arrested and booked without incident. - E Union building fire: There were no injuries after a Saturday afternoon fire in a two-story former office building that has been used as a small apartment complex at 27th and Union. Seattle Fire was called to the blaze around 3:15 PM Saturday and reported the fire out around 15 minutes later. It is not clear how many people call the building home.
